The story behind Hook and Cook
WE ARE HOOK & COOK
Hook and Cook is a brand conceived in 2016. The goal was to unify fishing, exceptional food, and great music within summer vibes trough events and festivals. This project originated from companionship and love for the sea. It continues to bring together local fishermen, chefs, musicians, and friends. For that reason we altogether collaborate towards healthier, organic, and high-quality food experience.
The concept and the idea of Hook and Cook
It all started in 1994 in Medulin with F/V Levan, which was initially a trawler. Later it transitioned into a purse seiner specializing in sardines which are one of the most important fish in the Adriatic sea. Unfortunately, after Levan captain passed away, in 2009 his stepson, then 24-year-old Siniša Xixi Pavlović stepped in becoming the youngest captain in the Adriatic.
Another boat was added to the fleet, a new big-game fishing boat Tunana. She is successfully handled by his father Nebojša Pavlović and brother Marko Pavlović. Therefore he started exploring a new idea of catching fish and preparing it with some local chefs immediately on the boat for the people waiting on the docs for fresh fish.
EVENTS AND FESTIVALS
Xixi’s life friend Marko Domgjoni joined and helped him create a unique visual identity and marketise the concept of Hook&Cook through regional events and festivals.
As a result, more people could attend and enjoy this new fusion of freshly caught local seafood, prepared by amazing chefs and followed by an exquisite music program. Everything started to make more sense.
“FROM SEA TO TABLE”
Hook&Cook developed a new approach to sustainable gastronomy by engaging local fishermen and chefs in this concept of bringing seafood closer to people. Our guiding principle was “from sea to table“. Above all at our events and festivals, people have the chance to taste a selection of seafood dishes by famous chefs. They approach food with the same style and quality as in their restaurants or TV shows.
This approach enabled the possibility to open the first Hook&Cook restaurant in Pula.

Josip Urti “sea nomad” and professional spearfishing diver helped provide the place to make this happen. His grandmother’s family bar with 50 years of tradition in hospitality helped position Hook & Cook into a place that offers superior streetfood gastronomic experience.
Our restaurant is a unique place in the whole Istrian region of Croatia.
At this point, we want to enhance seafood gastronomy and involve more people in our idea. Through this ultimate experience of fishing, music, and entertainment, we form a new chapter in Croatian gastronomy and leisure – The Hook&Cook Experience.

Our ambition is to build a collaboration platform between regional food producers, fishermen, and chefs that would generate an impact over this worldwide food industrialization.
